A Card and a Bookmark
I was able to get to put together the two Dare to Get Dirty Challenges posted today and so thought I would share them with you before I head out. The challenges so far have been a blast and if you have time you should check them out here, Dirty Dare '08 .
My first card is for Jenn's Inspiration challenge. She posted a photo of a cake and we're suppose to come up with an inspired card derived from the photo. You know by far inspiration challenges are some of my ultimate favorites and so this was a blast!
Here's the Inspiration piece.
Here's my card,
I started with a Kiwi Kiss card base and it's standard size. The bottom panel is flock paper from the Paper Company I found a couple of days ago that I'm going to use for another project, but had some left over and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I thought swapping the white as a predominate color for the base gives it a more summer feel. I then layered some Nestabilities Scallop Ovals and in the middle I stamped the Friend sentiment from the All Holidays Stampin' Up! set with Basic Black and cut it out with the Coluzzle. Across the middle I added a satin ribbon and some brads to the left corner.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The next challenge was Lauren's Monochromatic Challenge. I wanted to make an auntie bookmark for a friend and so went with a bookmark inside a library pocket. And this is a photo of it with the bookmark out. I just love this poem by DRS Designs Stamps - though you know I'm a little biased when it comes to the importance of an aunt role. You can click on the image to enlarge it if you'd like to read the poem. For the pocket I started off with Bella Rose Designer Series Paper base. I cut a strip, folded it in half and cut about 2" off one of the sides. To make the curve on the top of the front panel I used my coluzzle and cut out a semi-circle. I stitched the sides and then added some Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon and added a pearl in the middle. The circle element is made up of three pieces. The bottom piece is the circle frame from Together Forever which I stamped on Pink Pirouette card stock with Riding Hood Red ink. I cute it out and added a Riding Hood Red 1-1/4" Circle to the middle with a dimensional. I then stamped the circle Happy Birthday image from Wow Flowers onto Pink Pirouette with Riding Hood Red ink and punched it out with the 1" Circle Punch and adhered it with another dimensional. I rounded the corners on the back panel of the pocket with a Corner Rounder Punch. For the bookmark, I started with a Riding Hood Red strip and then on a strip of Bella Rose Designer Paper I stamped a row of flowers from the Together Forever set and the sentiment from DRS Designs with Riding Hood Red ink. I adhered both pieces together, added some Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon and a pearl brad through the middle.

Beautiful as usual! I love your creations!
