I spend a good part of today getting ready for my upcoming Halloween Treat class as well as playing with some new stamps. I'll be sharing a fun project and a matching card tomorrow - the card is a challenge put forth by Starving Artistamps call the Swedish Collage Challenge, so stay tuned for that one. Today I have some cupcake fun to share with you plus a new tutorial!
First share is my take on Taylor's Cupcake Challenge TECC34 I'm having a blast playing with her newly released Trick or Sweet set. The more I play with them the more I find that they seem to lend themselves to more than just Halloween themed cards or treats and so this is the approach I took with this card, Happy Day.
I started with a standard size Whisper White card stock base and added a 1/4" smaller piece of Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper. On the vertical strip I added a strip of Basic Black card stock with some white rick rack strips behind it. On top of the Basic Black strip I added a strip of Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper and set it aside to work on the flower element.
For the flower element I layered two flowers from the Pretties Kit and a 1-3/8" Basic Black circle in the middle. The kitty cupcake I stamped on white paper and colored in Copic Markers. I added some red Stickles to the red section for some glitz and attached to the middle of the flower with some dimensionals.
For the sentiment piece I stamped Happy from Stampin' Up!'s Happy Everything set on Whisper White card stock with Memento Black ink and the word Day on Real Red card stock which I cut out and adhered under the word happy. I added little "x"'s with the Basic Black pen all the way around the edge of the card stock and adhered it to a larger piece of Basic Black card stock. Around the edges of the Basic Black card stock I also added "x"'s with the White Gel Pen. I punched an opening with the Horizontal Slot punch through both pieces of card stock, threaded some Black gingham ribbon through it, tied a bow and adhered it to the card front.

This next project uses the adorable little witch from the same set and thought it was only fitting that I would try to figure out some type of broom treat holder. I was looking through the new Stampin' Up! catalog for like the 100th time for some inspiration and in the Halloween section they feature an adorable broom treat bag perfect for Halloween. It reminded me of a project I made in the third grade and so went hunting around the web to see if I could find directions for it. Good 'ol Martha Stewart came through again - well, sort of. In her store she is selling kits to make them, but I figured I would try to make one with stuff I had here in the house and happy to say I did! Here's my take at this bag and with a link to the tutorial.
Here's a close up of the tag.
Here's a photo of just the bag.
As I mentioned above here's a link to the tutorial on how to make the broom,
For the tag I used the large Scallop Oval punch and punched out a Chocolate Chip oval and added some dots with the White Gel Pen. I then stamped the cupcake witch onto Whisper White card stock, colored her in with Copic Markers and added Stickles. I cut her out and adhered her to the scallop oval. I stamped the Best Witches sentiment onto Whisper White card stock, added some dots with the Basic Black marker, some dew drops, and a bit of Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon. Adhere the sentiment to the scallop oval and it to the broom with dimensionals.

Little witchy is just soooo cute! I love the pop of the stickles on her. Very cute project!
