As I mentioned earlier this month, I'm celebrating my one year blogaversary! I planned a couple of months back that I wanted to donate something big along with smaller items. The bigger item I wanted to incorporate some type of challenge that would encourage giving back to others. I am grateful everyday for all that I've been blessed with - my family, friends (old and new), my health, and so many other things. One of those things has come about this blog and how it has enable me to share this love of paper crafting with others.
Last week, I came across a post on Julie Koerber's blog, Out to Impress, regarding the charity her mom runs called Cards 4 Kids. Julie's mom, Pat, donates her time and hand made cards to the kids who are staying at Children's Hospital in Detroit. Pat was issued the ultimate challenge of coming up with 1,000 Valentines for the kids at the hospital. The cards need to be left blank inside so the kids can fill them out and send them out to friends and family. I immediately wanted to participate and wanted to somehow spread the word.
With that said, I decided to not only make cards, but to give away some blog candy to encourage you to participate and help Pat make her 1,000 Valentine card goal. First, I decided to make 50 Valentine grams to send to Pat. Here are my first 25.
I decided on 10 different designs and made 5 of each. Here are the first 5 designs. I've taken close up photos and written out the recipe for each which you can find just below the blog candy information. I'll share the other 25 with you next week.
Now for the Blog Candy and how you can get involved and possibly be the winner of a brand new Bind-it-All!
I'm giving you three chances to enter the drawing. You must follow the rules closely in order to qualify. Pat is looking for cards with envelopes or ATC size or even just a post card style card - remember to leave them blank! To sign up, send Pat your intent to help at mrsmiley6@aol.com and Pat will give you her address.
So how can you enter the raffle? Here are the three ways...and yes this means your name can go in the hat three times!
- Leave a comment here letting me know that you will be sending Pat some Valentines. I'm not putting a number limit, it's really up to you and what your time allows. Also be aware that she can always use Birthday or Thank You cards if that's more your style.
- Take a photo of the cards your sending to Pat and either post it on your blog, SCS, Paper Craft Planet, or forum of your choice and leave a link here.
- Spread the word - post a blurb about this blog candy on your blog with a link to this post! Once you've done that, leave me another reply on this post with a link to your post.
Hope you'll join in and help Pat not only meet, but exceed this goal! The deadline to enter this blog candy is January 31st! Pat's deadline is February 7th, so this should give you plenty of time!
