Happy Tuesday! Hope you're all doing well. Sis is home with Victoria so I should have a bit more time to create and post. Thanks to all of you for you sweet wishes on our new addition to our family. I have one more photos below for any of you who'd like to check them out! My sister and niece were released yesterday so I managed to squeeze in some time this afternoon to play with some new SU! product that arrived late yesterday.
I decided the first set I wanted to ink up was the
Simple Friendship set. I know you're going to love it as much as I do. I also wanted to make sure I participated in this week's SCS Color Combo challenge (Baja Breeze, Garden Green, and Pacific Point) because
Jessie is the host this week - isn't that exciting! I made two cards, I ended up liking this combo that much! Okay, so here's my first card, Friend.
There's a couple of new products which I'll highlight in bold so that you're aware. I started off with a standard size Pacific Point card stock. Then I run a piece of Baja Breeze and Garden Green card stock through the Big Shot using the newly released Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates Stampin' Up! released in the 2009 Spring~Summer Catalog. I cut them down to strips and adhered them to the card front. I added some rows of piercing between both pieces of card stock and a piece of Pacific Point Grosgrain Ribbon towards the top of the card front.
I stamped the friend image from the Simple Friendship twice - once with Baja Breeze and once with Garden Green. I then cut out the bottom of the of of the Garden Green piece and paper pieced the top piece on top of the Baja Breeze piece. I added some piercing to the bottom half of the image and adhered it to two large flowers from the Pretties Kit with pop-up glue dots.
I finished the card by stamping a small flower from the same set with Garden Green ink, cut it out, adhered it to the bottom right corner of the card front and a halfback pearl in the middle of that. Recipe is below

My second card I put together is with Storage Units, Ink and More's set called
Sweet Things and here's my card.
This card measures 4-1/4" X 4-1/4" and the base is Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury white card stock. I added the extra piece of Baja Breeze card stock I had ran through the Big Shot texturz plate and added some piercing on both sides to create some faux stitching. I then stamped the sentiment in black on the lower half.
For the main image I stamped it with Garden Green on white card stock, punched it out with 1-1/4" Circle Punch. I added some dots to the cup and around edge of the circle. I then adhered this to a Designer Label I punched out of Pacific Point card stock and added dots around this edge with the White Gel Pen. I punched two holes on either side of the Designer Label and threaded some Whisper White Taffeta ribbon which I tied in a bow in one end. In the middle of the bow I added a mini halfback pearl. Recipe is below.

i think a cute gift would be handprints/footprints on a heart with a picture...TFS Liann

Not sure about the gift to each other, but I think the perfect thing for Mom is to have each child trace their hands on top of each other's and give it to her. They are only little for a while.
It's a good life!

Lots of hugs and kisses and some pretty pink socks !

What an adorable family! Congrats to you and them on the new addition. Hmmm, what about complementing stuffed animals - a big bro bear with lil sis bear, just like them?
Posted by: Jessica | January 29, 2009 at 09:47 PM
okay...this is what I would tell your nephew to give to his new sister...tell him to make a fist, dip the area around his thumb and fore finger onto an ink pad. Then he can "give her kisses" onto paper. My kids do that. Roll up, attach a ribbon. Letting him know that she will keep it forever!
For his sister to him: press her hands into ink, stamp onto paper saying " I love you this much".

Cute cards!!! Gifts???? How about book with poems and have each one of them put their hand prints or for the baby -- her footprint (its much easier!!) with the year-- It could be a "traditon" and you could see how much they grow from year to year too.
Whatever you decide-I'm sure it will mean a ton!!

Fantastic cards! Adorable kids too. How about a "Big Brother" t-shirt to Gaven from Victoria? I have posted a link to your blog/candy on mine. Thanks for the chance to win! I love that set and see so many possibilities with it. =)

I think that your nephew could make her a bib with a heart from his handprints or a sponge and then have it written on there "My big brother loves me"
Then for her it could be a framed picture of both of them together (with the frame being altered) and maybe something with a quote about being the little sister on it.
Your cards are beautiful!

I think you should sit Gaven down with some ink and let him select a stamp and make his first ever card as a special figt for his sister. Then his sister can have a footprint on a card for Gaven. What cute kids!

oh man! look what happens when I go away on a trip! you get a new niece! she's sweet - so glad everyone is doing well. congrats to all!!

Love your cards! How about an italian charm bracelet. Every year he can pick out a new charm to add to it. By the time she's twelve or so, her bracelet will be full of memories of how her brother loved her, and what he thought about her.

I just love the sweet little pictures, thank you so much for sharing! I think a wonderful gift from Gaven would be a little teddy bear. My son bought a little blue teddy bear (he picked it out himself) for his brother, and now at 14 months, he HAS to have it when he goes to sleep - or else!

My idea is for them to give each other a heart with thier hand print on them. Victoria can give Gavin her hand print and Gaven could give Victoria her hand print. Very simple with limited mess.

I think Gavin should give Victoria his undivided attention for the next year. Oh yeah, like that's going to happen!! lol Great pictures, and Congratulations on your new neice. Linda S. lsfouratwindstreamdotnet

Oh gosh, these are such special pics. What a beautiful family & little gal, and of course Gaven!
Not sure what would be the best gift but, I'm big on handprints, if you position them right, they'll make a heart, so I'm sure Schantal would love to see that. I'll check my books to see what else I can find.
As far as what she can give him...maybe something about big bro's & little sis's. I know they're big book fans, so I'm sure there has to be a perfect one for these two. My kids love the Berenstain Bears' new Baby book. Wish I still had it to pass on to Gaven.
Posted by: Stephanie Atterbury | January 27, 2009 at 10:21 PM
I think a great gift would be to make a print of Gaven's hands on a paper, and then Victoria's hands placed between his. Or Gaven's hands with Victoria's touching his. Maybe with a note indicating he will always be there to look out for her - with Gaven writing his name on the bottom.

SWEET cards and pictures!!!! let's see...I think big brother should give little sister a book...a really colorful Dr. Seuss book...something that they can share.
Posted by: ~amy~ | January 27, 2009 at 09:25 PM
Love both of the cards...and the set of stamps:) I think big brother should make his sister a card (with auntie's help;), and display it in her bedroom. I'll list your blog candy on my site as well, http://muktownecraftroom.blogspot.com
Posted by: Linda | January 27, 2009 at 08:53 PM
I think the gift should be a picture drawn by your nephew of his baby sis (within a pink heart) put a pink ribbon on it, and seal it up to go into her baby book! Then, on her 16th birthday, what a cute gift to give her. I'll list your blog candy on my site: http://triesmakingcards.blogspot.com Please enter me.

Carolina,
I think the perfect gift would be for you to make a heart out of two fingerprints of your nephew in red ink then let him write/draw something. Then frame it for your niece, she'll treasure it and so will the rest of the family.

Carolina this are both fantastic!! I love the icy cool colors and the sophisticated design! The pictures are so cute of your niece and nephew! Thanks for sharing them!
Smiles,
Janna
