Happy Friday!!! Yeay, the weekend is here. Andy and I spent most of the day with Gaven and after lunch we managed to catch a movie (Monsters and Aliens) with him. As soon as I got home, I logged on hoping I'd have some comments regarding the projects and blog candy only to find the post from yesterday was still on the front page of my blog. Um...yeah, that's because I put 9 pm instead of 9 am for it to publish - sorry about that. Well, anyway, here's my post and hope you like the fun shares and blog candy!
I'm so excited because I finally get to share my idea I've had for a while for a lip balm/lip stick holder. I know there are plenty of versions out there, but I wanted mine to include a mirror so I decided to alter a box into a purse. I made two - a casual one and an elegant one which I will start with first. They also have matching cards and so here's a photo of the elegant version of the box and card.
Here's a close up of the card.
I wanted to start wit the elegant one because I've been looking for the per perfect paper to use in order to make give it more of a glam look. The paper I used for the card and lip balm holder is from Paper Temptress. I can't even begin to tell you how lovely this paper is. The paper I used for the card is called Retro Silver - it comes in gold and black as well. I tried my best to capture the shimmer and shine of this paper - I love how it elevates my card to another level of elegance with such little effort on my part.
The dress image is from Gina K. Designs Retro Boutique stamp set designed by Rupa Shvede. The sentiment is stamped on a label I cut out using the soon to be release Matchbox Die from Stampin' Up!'s Occassions Mini (April 1).
Here's a close up of the box, Fairest of All.
This paper feels so much like leather, it looks like leather and it's so easy to work with - I just thought it would make the best paper purse.
To make the box:
I altered Stampin' Up!'s Box #2 die by cutting the top tabs off and trimming the lid in order to accommodate a scallop edge. On the scallop edge I added some mini pearls and two layered flowers held together with a rhinestone brad. I pinched the sides together in and then with the Crop a dile, I punched a hole in the middle of each side in order to thread some ribbon through it to use as a handle.
Here's a photo of the project with the items out of it.
I covered the lip balm with paper and added a flower. To make the holder for the mirror I cut out a scallop circle from the Scallop Circle #2 die and one with the Scallop Circle Punch. I attached the mini mirror with double sided tape, added some ribbon and finished it off with a Making Memories designer brad. The mini mirrors I found in the candle-mosaic section of my local craft store.
On the inside of the flap I stamped, " You're the fairest of the all" from Gina K. Designs' Perfectly Polished set designed by Rupa Shevde. I managed to find mini velcro dots and that's what I used for the purse closure.

Here's a more casual version I came up with a while back, but like I said I was waiting to find the luxury paper so I waited to post this one together with the other one. I figure this one can be used during the day, Casual Lip Balm Holder and Card.
I cut out a Swirls Scribbles out of Chocolate Chip card stock and added it to the top right edge of the main piece. There's also a coupe of fun elements I used from the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrappin' Kit. You can see them on the round piece on top fo the swirl and the strip across top section of the card.
Here' a photo fo the box, Absolutely Perfect Daisies
Here's a photo of it with the items out:
I put the box together pretty much like I did the first. A couple of different things, the color combo, embellishments, sentiment. The flower is from Stampin' Up!'s Daisies #2 Die and I added a Kiwi Kiss Corduroy ribbon in the middle. The sentiment is from the Absolutely Fabulous set.

Thanks for sticking with me through this long post, but it's worth the wait cause here's the blog candy you have a chance to win:
So here's what you'll get:
- Level 2 Stampin' Up! Hostess called Itty Bitty Buds
- The leather elegant Lip Balm/ Lipstick purse I created for today's post and all it's contents.
- A package of Halfback Pearls
- Five sheets of the leather paper (same paper I used to create the purse - not pictured here)
Okay, so did you guess my clues - the image was regarding flowers which has to do with the set I'm offering and the texture had to do with this yummy leather paper. So how can you be eligible to win this blog candy? I thought with Easter nearing it would be fun to do something around that. One of our family traditions is to fill egg shells with confetti and pop them on top of each other's heads...it really is a blast. What's yours? Leave me a comment telling me your favorite Easter Tradition or Spring Memory. If you mention my blog candy on your post leave me another comment with a link to your post. I'll announce a winner on Tuesday, March 31. That's it and good luck all!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a cupcakelicious day,
