Happy Wednesday! Hope you're having a great week so far...mine has been quite entertaining with the little ones. I did manage to get some creative time in to make some projects, one of which I'm posting today and the other is for tomorrow.Today's set is going to a friend who just moved into a new house and will be hosting a house warming party soon.
Even though she insisted on no gifts, I just can't show up emptied handed (I blame my paternal grandmother for this, she always reminded me that showing up emptied handed to someone's house was just wrong and so it just comes naturally to me as breathing). When I saw Verve's August Project Parade called Happiness for Hostesses (basically to make gifts for hostesses) it gave me the little push I needed to put a gift set together for my friend.
I've been wanting to make a tea gift set and Verve's A Cup of Life set is just perfect for it (I also sneaked in a couple of images/sentiments from the equally adorable Delightful & Delicious set). The gift set consists of a card, a coaster, a tea box, and a box of cookies. I'm also using some templates designed by Jan Hosford called Hybrid Helper ~ Small Packages. All paper, some digital, is from Paper Temptress. Okay ready for some close-ups? Make yourself a hot cup of tea and enjoy!
The first item is actually the last item I made, the card.
I used this week's SCS Sketch Challenge (SC243) and the Cup of Life set. The blue paper is called Sky Blue Crepe ruche textured paper - you see it her in the background strip I used my Martha Stewart's Loop Edger Punch on as well as the matting for the main image/sentiment. Across the bottom I added a strip of black gingham ribbon and on top of that a piece of Black Plastic Touch paper. To give it a bit of a pop I added a row of halfback pearls.
The main piece I stamped on Heavenly White Premium Ultrasmooth card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it in with Copics. I added some prima flowers with halfback pearls in the middle and a strip of ribbon threaded through a Making Memories buckle.
The next project is the coaster.
I bought this coaster from Oriental Trading Company. It actually comes in a set of four in a nice wooden holder. So you can either use it as a set (which I will be showing you at a later time) or give them out individually.
I used the same paper as in the card with the exception of the black card stock. I stamped the sentiment from Delightful & Delicious and cut it out with Nestabilities die. I then stamped the cup from the A Cup of Life set and colored it in with Copics. To finish it off I tied a piece of black gingham ribbon around it and a halfback pearl in the middle. Here's a photo of it on my desk so you can get a sense of how it will sit when in use.
Now onto the boxes. As I mentioned above, I made two using two different templates from Jan's Hybrid Helpers ~ Small Packages set. Here's the first one which I used to hold the tea.
Step-by-step instructions on how I put this box together can be found at Hybrid Chic's blog ~ HERE. Inside the box are two holders. Here's a close up.
and here's a photo of it opened.
I was beyond jazzed to be able to use one of the tags from Stampin' Up!'s Two Tags Biz Die...cool or what? I just cut out a couple using the ruche paper and decorated as shown! The frame and tea word is from the A Cup of Life set.
The next box holds tea cookies.
There's also step-by-step instructions on how to put this box together over at the Hybrid Chic's blog ~ HERE. To decorate the box I layered two flowers from Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit and added sentiment, frame and cup from the A cup fo Life set. I decorated the cellophane bag as well. Here's a before shot of it.
I used the same set plus some images and sentiment from the Delightful & Delicious set and stamped them on the cellphane bag with StazOn ink. Here's what the bag looks like with the cookies inside.
Finished it off with some ribbon, a prima flower, and halfback pearl! That's it, thanks for sticking through such a long post! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
