Happy Wednesday! Quite a busy day we have ahead of us...my nephew Gaven is graduating from pre~K and heading off to kinder. Where does the time go? I'm going to try to put a scrap page with one of his graduation photos soon to share with all of you. Today I have a project and a card to share with you. In continuing in my think green theme I've had as of late, here's one more.
A menu planner is one of those items that not only saves you time but also takes the guessing out of what's for dinner. I put a quick step~by~step tutorial over at the Hybrid Chick blog on how to make this reusable and decorative menu planner.
The shopping list and menu planner, which are from Mari Koehlenberg called What's Cooking? The Collection, are both covered with self~adhesive vinyl decorative covering so that you can write on it with a dry eraser marker, erase when done, and reuse it week after week. I used the newly released WTG Goes Green by My Favorite Things to finish it off. Here's a close up of the paper pieced image and sentiment.
The sentiment and the paper bags I paper pieced where actually stamped on some grocery bags I had set aside to use later...I thought this gave it more of that recycle use.

I have a friend who is actually good about planning her meals every week so I'm going to be giving her this along with other goodies I put together for her birthday. Since I made a her a birthday card already, I thought I would put together a fun card to go with this board. Using this week's SCS Sketch Challenge (SCS284) and Kim's Wednesday Stamp Clug Challenge (MFTWSC06092010) this is what I came up with.
I stamped the image with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and Colored it with Copics. I then cut it out with Spellbinders Oval Scallop die, added some dashes and st it aside. I used of My Favorite Things Cork and Die-animics Jumbo Scallop Die to cut out a strip and set that aside. The last thing I cut out was the grass out Felt using the Die-animics Fresh Cut Grass Die which I adhered to a piece of patterned paper from October Afternoon's Fly a Kite pad.
The last element I worked on before assembling the card was the bow and buttons. I layered three buttons (small, medium and large) and tied them all together with some hemp and them to a piece of twill which I tied in a bow. I used double-sided tape to adhere the buttons to the twill and the twill to the card front as well as on the cork.
This was a fun project and a great sketch to design with...hope you give both a try!
