Gina K. Designs Days of Summer StampTV Kit Inspirational Hop

As I mentioned in my previous post I think the Days of Summer StampTV Kit is a MUST HAVE kit for summer. I've been having so much fun putting projects together for this hop...hope you like what I've come up with!

First up is a birthday card.

I don't know about you, but when I think of summer, cherries pop into my head. The cherries are from the You're the Sweetest mini set and they were the inspiration for this card and this is how it came together.

1. Create a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" top-folding card base out of GKD Pure Luxury White card stock.
2. Using GKD Color Companions Cherry Red ink stamp the cherries image randomly all over the card front. Using GKD Color Companions Grass Green ink stamp the stems.
3. Using a black pen, add some stitching around the edge of the card front and set it aside.
4. On a piece of scrap GKD Pure Luxury White card stock, stamp the cherry and stems image and punch it out with a stamp punch. Add some stitching marks with a black pen and ink up the edges with GKD Color Companions Cherry Red ink.
5. Cut a 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" square out of patterned paper from Summer Brights GKD Patterened Paper pack and adhere cherry piece on top with pop-dots. Set it aside.
6. On a piece of scrap GKD Pure Luxury White card stock, stamp the sentiment with GKD Color Companions Black Onyx ink, punch it out with a label punch, add stitching with the black pen, and ink up the edges with GKD Color Companions Cherry Red ink. Adhere sentiment on top of Cherry piece with pop dots and set it aside.
7. Using GKD Black Onyx Double Stitched Color Companions Ribbon, make a bow and adhere it across the top of the card front.
8. Add a GKD White Color Companions Button to the middle of the bow, the cherry piece under the bow and with that, you are done!

 Next up is a card using the A Wish for You mini set.

Here's how it came together.

1. Create a standard size side-folding card base out of GKD Pure Luxury Grass Green card stock.
2. Add a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of GKD Pure Luxury White card stock to the card front.
3. Add a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of patterned paper from the  Summer Brights GKD Patterned Paper pack on top of the white card stock t the card front. Set it aside.
4. Cut a 1-3/4" x 5-3/4" piece of GKD Pure Luxury White card stock and run it the through cutting machine with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Cut a notch into one of the ends and adhere it to the card front.
5. Add piece of GKD Passionate Pink Doule Stitched Color Companion ribbon on top of the embossed piece and a bow made out of the same ribbon on top of that. Set it aside. 
6. On a piece of scrap GKD Pure Luxury White card stock, using GKD Color Companions Grass Green ink stamp the flower image from the A Wish for You mini set. Use GKD Color Companions Bubblegum ink to sponge over the flowers and GKD Color Companions Black Onyx ink to stamp the sentiment on top of the flowers.
7. Cut the flower stamped piece with the Scalloped Square die and then using a larger die, cut another out of GKD Pure Luxury White card stock and one more our of GKD Pure Luxury Grass Green card stock. Assemble all pieces together and adhere it to the card front with pop dots.
8. Add rhinestones to the flower piece as well as the corners of the card front. With that, you are done!

Lastly is a card using the Summer Blooms mini set.

I'm in love with the new Gina K. inks - the variety of colors are great and the quality is one of the best I've ever used. On this card I wanted to show you how color inks can really make a card pop. Here's how it came together:

Here's how it came together.

1. Create a standard size side-folding card base out of GKD Pure Luxury White card stock.
2. Using the large flower and GKD Color Companions Passionate Pink ink stamp it randomly on the card front. Switch to the smaller flower and with the GKD Color Companions Blue Raspberry ink to stamp it randomly as well. To add the stems use the GKD Color Companions Grass Green ink with the stem ink.
3. Using the GKD Color Companions Black Onyx ink stamp the sentiment on the top right corner. Set it aside.
4. Cut a 3" x 5-1/2" piece of patterned paper from the  Summer Brights GKD Patterned Paper pack, use an edger punch on one side, and adhere it towards the bottom of the card front.
5. Add a strip of GKD White Grosgrain Color Companion ribbon and then a strip of GKD Passionate Pink Doule Stitched Color Companion ribbon on top of it.
6. Add a GKD Pink Passion Color Companions Button to the middle of the ribbon and a bow made out of GKD Passionate Pink Doule Stitched Color Companion ribbon with a pearl in the middle of it.
7. Add pearls to the middle of the flowers and with that, you are done!

Mix It Up Monday: Sentimentally Layered!

Happy Monday! I'm excited to be hosting this week's Mix it Up Monday! over at StampTV. I wanted to personally invite you to play along with my Sentimentally Layered challenge. The challenge is to make a card or project with at least two layers and with a sentiment or sentiments as the main focus. I managed to put together several samples to show you what I mean.

First up is a fun, bright card.

1. Create a top-folding card out of White card stock.
2. Run the top of 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Wild Dandelion card stock through your cutting machine using the Argyle Embossing folder and adhere it to the card front.
3. Stamp the word hello from the Stamp it BIG! 2 with GKD Black Onyx ink and set it aside.
4. On a piece of White card stock, stamp the banner with GKD Black Onyx ink and with GKD Sweet Mango ink the pattern from Pretty Patterns 2 set. Cut it out and adhere it to the card front.
5. Stamp six daisies from the Simple Flowers set on Wild Dandelion card stock with GKD Black Onyx ink. Punch them out and adhere them to the banner.
6. In the middle of each daisy add some Paprika Stickles and with that, you are done!

Next up is round shaped card that simply tells a loved one that you're thinking about them.

1. Using the Spellbinders Grand Scallop Circles Nestabilities Die, cut out a card base out of White card stock.
2. Using the Spellbinders Grand Circles Nestabilities Dies, cut out a circle out of GKD Birthday Hoot Patterned Paper and with a smaller size die out of White card stock. Adhere the patterned paper piece to the card front and set it aside.
3. On the white circle piece, stamp the flower from the Bold Blooms with VersaMark ink, add White Embossing Powder, and emboss it. Using lavender ink, sponge some ink around the on the flower working form the outside edges in. 
4. Wrap a strip around and add a bow of GKD Dark Sage Organza Ribbon to the embossed piece and adhere it all to the card front. Set it aside.
5. On a piece of White card stock, stamp the sentiment from the By the Sea 2 set, punch it out and layer it onto a scallop and oval piece. Punch a hole in the tag, add it to the jump ring, pop it up with some dots, and with that, you are done!

Finally, the last card has a little gift inside, a tag, for the recipient to hang from a bag or perhaps use it as a bookmark. Here's a photo of the card front.

1. Create a top-folding card out of Blue Raspberry card stock.
2. Using the edge punch, punch out strips out of Fresh Asparagus, Sweet Corn, and Turquoise Sea GKD Pure Luxury card stock and adhere them together.
3. Use the edge punch on a piece of Spring Parade Patterned Paper, adhere card stock strips behind it and then adhere it all towards the top of the card front.
4. Add a strip of Gina K. Designs Black Onyx Grosgrain Color Companions Ribbon to the patterned paper and a bow on top of it. Set it aside.
5. On a piece of vellum, stamp and emboss with black embossing powder the sentiment miss you from the Stamp it BIG! 2 set. Cut the words out with scallop rectangle dies and adhere them to the card front using scrapbook nails. Set it aside.
6. On a piece of White card stock, stamp the image from Pretty Patterns 2 with GKD Blue Raspberry ink and punch it out. Ink the edges and adhere it to the front of an envelope with pop dots. Add envelope to the inside of the card, add Lime Green Stickles to the center of the image and set it aside to dry.
7. On a canvas tag, a piece of fabric, and on White card stock, stamp the Rainy Day Diva. Color the diva on the white card stock and cut out the necessary parts (the head, hands, and legs). Cut out the coat and umbrella from the fabric piece and paper piece all items onto the canvas diva.
8. Add a Gina K. Designs Black Onyx Grosgrain Color Companions Ribbon bow and Gina K. Designs Color Companions Turquoise Sea Button towards the top and left of the tag.
9. Thread a ball and chain through the opening, insert diva tag into the envelope and with that, you are done!

Gina K. Designs/Card Maker Magazine Spring Parade StampTV Kit Blog Hop

Happy Wednesday! Gina K. Designs and Card Maker Magazine designers have come together to host a fun blog hop featuring the recently released Spring Parade StampTV Kit. This kit has got to be one of the best ones yet. If you haven't had a chance to see the introduction video Gina put together, make sure to do so in order to appreciate just how much you get in this kit. I wanted to take a different approach with this kit for this hop. Though I love every single image that is include in this kit, I wanted to highlight some of the sentiments that are included in this kit along with the patterned paper, card stock, and ribbon. For each of the cards I put together I used only items from the kit with the exception of the punches I used to punch out the sentiments and the ink (which by the way is Gina K. as well!).

Here are the steps I took to create each card:

1. Create a 4" x 4" top folding card base out of card stock.
2. Adhere a 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of card stock in a different color to the card front.
3. Add a strip of ribbon across a 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of patterned paper and adhere it all to the card front. Set it aside.
4. On a scrap piece of white card stock, stamp the sentiment, and punch it out.
5. Use a larger punch to punch a piece out of the same color card stock you used for the card base and adhere the sentiment to it. Adhere it to card front with a pop dot, just under the ribbon.
6. Use a strip of ribbon to create a bow and adhere it just above the sentiment. With that, you are done!
