Gina K. Designs February Inspiration Hop Day 3: Lots of Dots, Darling Divas, & Petite Borders

We're concluding these series of hops with five sets: Lots of Dots by Beth Silaika, Darling Divas (three different mini sets) by Debbie Corbari, and Petite Borders. Due to the fact that I have many cards to share with you today, I decided not to write instructions for each one to cut down on you having to scroll down so much while you hop. I will make sure to add them later on this week or over the weekend.

First up is a card with Lots of Dots by Beth Silaika.

For this one I used Powdered Blue and Fresh Asparagus Gina K. Desings Color Companions Ink. The green looks lighter because I stamped off prior to stamping on the card front.

 Next up is a card that incorporates two sets Lots of Dots by Beth Silaika and Serenity Diva by Debbie Corbari.

 

I used the same image from the Lots of Dots set but in two different colors. Also I stamped them once and then again on top to create richer/darker colors. From the Serenity Diva set, I thought it would be fun to make the flower into an embellishment and did that by using one of the dots the Lots of Dots set, stamping it in red, and then stamped the flower in white over it. I just love the sentiment...we should all say that more often.

Next up is another Darling Diva, Day at the Park Diva by Debbie Corbari

For this Diva, I wanted the colors to be fun and bright...much like a summer day. The grass was punched out with a edge punch out of GKD Jelly Bean card stock and the big cloud is was cut out of felt using a die.

For the next sets of cards I used both the Mommy-to-be Diva by Debbie Corbari as well as this month's Free with Three set, Petite Borders. First up is a card with a shabby chic feel to it.

Last week I made it a mission to search and find the box where my sewing machine was packed just specifically to use it on this card. As soon as I saw this mini set I new exactly what I wanted to design with it. If you notice on the top edge of the card front is where I added a border from  Petite Borders set. I wanted it to blend into the patterned paper and so decided to emboss it. I really like how it looks embossed on patterned paper, it gives it a romantic feel.

You'll also notice that it's a different type of fold. It's pretty easy, but it sure makes a statement. I'll make sure to add all the folding instructions later.

For my next two cards I again used both the Mommy-to-be Diva by Debbie Corbari and the Petite Borders set. This time I used one design, but with a different color scheme for each.

I wanted to show you the versatility of these sets. All you need is different colors and you have a whole new card. Baby Shower invites are something that's needed in large quantities and these two took no time at all to put together.

We're continuing these series of hops with two more sets: The Northwoods by Theresa Momber and Poster Board Sentiments by Becky Oehlers. First up is a couple of items with The Northwoods set. Here's a card I put together.

I don't know about you, but I'm extremely challenged when it comes to designing masculine cards. One of the things I love about Theresa's sets is that they lend themselves perfectly to both feminine and masculine themes. For this card, I wanted to keep it CAS and wanted to give the new  Gina K. Designs Color Companions Ink a try at daubing color over an image. I love how they worked and how this card turned out. Here's how it came together.

1. Create a top-folding card base out of GKD Tan Leather card stock from the Pool Side Card Stock assortment.
2. Cut a 4" X 5-1/4" piece of GKD White card stock. Stamp the tree image three times with black ink.
3. Grab your Fresh Asparagus, Ocean Mist, and Honey Mustard Color Companions Ink, some daubers, and a Spellbinders rectangle die.
4. Place the rectangle die over one of the trees, grab one of the three ink pads and a dauber. Carefully add color on top and around the tree making sure you staying inside the rectangle.
5. Repeat step 4 with the other two trees.
6. Next grab a ruler and a pen and draw a rectangle around each of the trees.
7. Towards the upper right corner of the middle tree, stamp the sentiment with black ink.
8. Grab the Lots of Dots set and brown ink and stamp three of the dots on the upper right corner of the card base and adhere it to the card front.
9. Create or punch a photo corner out of  GKD Tan Leather card stock and adhere it to the lower left corner. Add a button and with that, you are done!

Next up is a note card featuring The Northwoods by Theresa Momber.

Here's how this notecard came together.

1. Create a top folding 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" card base out of GKD Black Onyx card stock.
2. Cut a 3" x 3" piece of GKD White card stock and ink up the edges with brown ink. Adhere it to the card front.
3. Cut a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" of GKD Smitten patterned paper and adhered to the card front. Set it aside.
4. On 2" x 2"  piece of GKD White card stock, stamp the sentiment, run it through your cutting machine with the embossing folder of your choice, ink up the edges and adhere it to the card front.
5. Add some ribbon and fibers just below the sentiment, some Gina K. Designs Color Companions Buttons:Coffee House buttons in the middle, and with that, you are done!

 Next up is a frame I made for a friend using the Poster Board Sentiments by Becky Oehlers.

This set has some wonderful sentiments and quotes, but by far this one is my favorite. Here's how it came together. 

1. After you take frame apart, grab the mat and set everything else aside.
2. Cut a 3-3/4" x 5-1/2" piece of  GKD Tan Leather card stock from the Pool Side Card Stock assortment and run it through your cutting machine with an embossing folder of your choice. Set it aside.
3. On a piece of GKD Black Onyx card stock, emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder, and cut it out. Set it aside.
4. On a piece of Tan Leather card stock, emboss the ribbon with red embossing powder and cut it out.
5. Add a doily to the upper left side of mat, below add the ribbon, and just above the ribbon on top of the doily add the sentiment with pop-dots.
6. Thread three buttons with Brown Bakers Twine and adhere them next to the sentiment. 
7. Add the mat to the frame and with that, you are done!

The last item I'll be sharing with you today is a card using the Poster Board Sentiments by Becky Oehlers.

This is my second favorite sentiment in this set and I wanted it to take center stage. Here's how the card came together.

1. Create a top folding standard size card out of GKD White card stock.
2. Cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Moonlight Fog card stock and run it trough your cutting machine with an embossing folder of your choice. Adhere it to card front. 
3. Add some pearls on each corner of the card base, tie a piece of ribbon towards the top  and around the card front. Add a bow with a pearl in the middle and set it aside.
4. Stamp the sentiment with black ink on a piece of GKD White card stock and cut it out with Spellbinders Square die. Set it aside.
5. Out of a piece of Black Onyx card stock cut a Lacey Square die, adhere sentiment to it and them to the card front.
6. In the middle of each loop add a pearl and with that, you are done!

Gina K. Designs February Inspiration Hop Day 1: A Year of Flowers 2 and All Occasion Tags 2

We're kicking off these series of hops with two sets: A Year of Flowers 2 by Melanie Muenchinger and All Occasion Tags 2 by Tami Mayberry. First up is a card with A Year of Flowers 2 by Melanie Muenchinger.

Melanie has created a sister set to her previously releases A Year of Flowers and Pressed Flowers. In this new set,  A Year of Flowers 2, you will find outlined images that work beautiful with images from the previously released sets. But much like many of Melanie's sets, the images work beautifully on their own.

For this card I decided to use the images to accent some patterned paper. Here are the steps I took to put the card together.

1. Create a top folding standard size card out of GKD White card stock.
2. Cut out a 2-3/4" x 5-1/2 piece of GKD Pool Side patterned paper an use a decorative edge punch on one end.
3. Stamp flowers across the top of patterned paper and adhere it to the front of card stock.
4. Cut a 2-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of GKD White card stock, run it through your die cutting machine with embossing folder of your choice and adhere it to the card front.
5. Add a strip of GKD Color Companion Cherry Red Grosgrain ribbon on top of patterned paper, add a bow, and a button from GKD Color Companion Bowl of Cherries button collection, and finish it off with a pearl in the middle.
6. Add some pearls to the middle of the flowers and set the card aside.
7. On a scarp piece of white card stock, stamp the sentiment and punch it out. Stamp the lady bugs on either side of the sentiment, add some dashes, adhere it to a piece of GKD Cherry Red card stock and adhere it to the card front with pop dots. With that, you're all done!

Next up is another project featuring A Year of Flowers 2 by Melanie Muenchinger.

 

I was able to alter a band-aid tin into a treat container by adding some patterned paper, an image, and sentiment. Here's how it came together.

1. Measure tin base and top, cut a piece of GKD Smitten patterned paper to go around tin and to cover the top.
2. Add a strip of GKD Color Companions Innocent Pink Gigham Ribbon around lid add a bow and set it aside.
3. On a piece of GKD Bubble Gum Pink card stock, stamp the sentiment, punch it out and adhere to a slightly bigger circle punched out of GKD White card stock and that to a slightly larger circle punched out of GKD Cherry Red card stock. Punch a hole, thread some ribbon and add to bow on lid. Set tin aside.
4. On a piece of GKD White card stock, Stamp tulips, stems, and leaves and color them in. Add some grass towards the bottom and cut according to the front side of tin. Round off corners, ink edges and adhere to front of tin.
5. Add some Stickles to the tulips and with that, you are done!

Next up is a card with All Occasion Tags 2 by Tami Mayberry.

 

This set is also another sister set to a previously released set, I don't know about you, but I can never have enough tag sets and this one brings new patterns, sentiments and fun elements you'll be able to use on your cards over an over again. As you can see in my card above, the tag and sentiment really dress it up. Here's how it came together.

1. Create a top folding standard size card out of GKD Ocean Mist Patterned Paper.
2. Run the card front through your cutting maching with embossing folder of your choice.
3. Add a strip of burlap and a doily to the card front and set it aside.
4. On a piece of  GKD White card stock, stamp the label image with GKD Color Companion Cherry Red ink and sentiment with black ink. Cut it out with Spellbinders Grommet Tags dies. Thread some Brown Bakers Twine through holes of tag, and around card front. With that, you are done!

Last project for today features another tag and sentiment from All Occasion Tags 2 by Tami Mayberry.

These tags and sentiments can turn an ordinary box into something special. Here's what I did.

1. On a piece GKD Cherry Red card stock use the Spellbinders Grommet Tag to punch a tag out.
2. Using embossing ink, VersaMark, and White Embossing Powder, emboss tag and sentiment.
3. Thread some ribbon through holes and add to container of your choice. Here I added it to the rim of the top of the box and finished it off with a flower on top of the box. With that, you are done!
