Gina K. Designs Take Flight Blog Hop

 

Happy Thursday! The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to a fun Take Flight blog hop. For this hop we will showcase the Petals and Wings StampTV Kit with the central theme being "Take Flight". The DT Members have all used a variety of stamps from this set to inspire you to get inky too! Come play along with the Current Challenges at Stamp TV!!!

 

I'm kicking off the blog hop, so you're right where you should be. If you get lost along the way or want to start off where you left off, please go to Stamp TV where you will find a list of all those participating.

I decided to embrace the Take Flight theme by using the lovely bird images in the Petals and Wings StampTV set. Here's what I came up with.

Here's how it came together.

1. Create a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" top-folding card base out of white card stock.
2. Cut a 3-1/4" x 4" piece of patterned paper (I used Gina K. Designs Patterned Paper: Petals and Wings) and use a border punch on one end. On that same end, add a strip of ribbon and set an eyelet on either end. Thread some twine through the eyelets leaving a couple of inches on either side (you will use this later to thread through the hanger on the image). Add some bows on top of the eyelets and a pearl in the middle and set it aside.
3. Stamp the bird image on a piece of white card stock, color it in, and cut it out with scallop oval nestabilities. Run it again through your machine with the Polka Dots embossing folder and add a hanger to the top of it. Thread the twine through the hanger and adhere the image to the card front with pop dots.
4. Stamp the sentiment on blue card stock, punch it out, and run it through with the Polka Dots embossing folder. Adhere it to the bottom right corner of the card front.
5. Finish it off with some pearls around the image, in between the scallops, and just under the sentiment.

I also decided to add a greeting to the inside and this is what that looks like.

I just added the sentiment to the middle and then the bird to the right of it. After I colored the bird in, I added some dashes by it's wing for motion. With that, the card is all done!

Superstar Birthday Greetings!

Happy Tuesday! Meant to post this earlier, but had an unexpected event come up. Thought I would go ahead and post anyway so you can wake up to it in the am...hope you like it!

I don't know about you, but I can never have enough birthday cards - specially cards for kids. Though, this could work for a teen as well. Here's a photo of the card.

For this card I used the Masculine Tags set and here's how it came together.

1. Create a top-folding standard size card out of white card stock.
2. Run a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of yellow card stock through the Cuttlebug using the Herringbone Embossing folder and adhere to a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of red card stock. Tie a strip of ribbon around both pieces and adhere it all to the card front.
3. Knot some pieces of ribbon towards the right of the card front and secure it with a star brad. Set it aside.
4. On a piece of white card stock. Stamp the star image four times - twice with red ink and twice with blue ink. On one of the blue images, stamp the birthday sentiment with red ink and cut it and the star. On one of the red, stamp the superstar sentiment with red and cut it out. Adhere all the cut out pieces with pop dots to the remaining red tag and cut it out.
5. Adhere tag at angle on the card front and with that, you are done!

Easter Bookmark and Gift Card Holder

Happy Tuesday! Hope you're having a good week so far. I'm so behind on Easter gifts and thought I would get two done today and share them with you. One is for my mom and the other for my sister. The first is a bookmark for my mom.

Mom loves bookmarks and is quite religious and thought I would make her one. Here's what it looks like inside the pocket.

Here's what it looks like out of the pocket.

I used the Melanie's Wild Flowers set to put this bookmark and holder together and here's how it came together.

1. On the front of the  library pocket, stamp the flower image all over with orange ink.
2. On the upper right corner stamp the 'Live.Love.Laugh." sentiment using black ink.
3. Add a strip of ribbon towards the bottom and some pearls on top of the ribbon. Set it aside.
4. For the bookmark, cut a 2-7/8" x 3-7/8" piece of patterned paper (I used Gina K. Designs Patterned Paper: Sundance) and stamp the verse in the middle with black ink. Round off the top corners and adhere it to a slightly larger piece of Ivory card stock (3" x 4"). 
5. Punch a hole towards the top of the bookmark, add some ribbon, and secure it with a pearl brad.
6. Insert bookmark in the library pocket, and with that, you're all done!

Next up is a gift card holder for my sister. Here's what it looks like all put together.

Here's what the insert looks like out of the envelope.

For this holder I'm using the Great Sayings set and thought the sentiment, 'When writing the story of your life, don't let anyone else hold the pen.', was perfect for my sister with her being a teacher and all. Here's how it came together.

1. To make the insert, cut a 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of patterned paper (I used Gina K. Designs Patterned Paper: Wisteria Lane) and stamp the sentiment in the middle and the flower image on either side of the sentiment. Set it aside.
2. On the lower right corner of the envelope stamp the flower image and add pearls to the middle of each flower. Add slightly larger pearls to the flap of the envelope.
3. Insert the gift card and sentiment into the envelope and with that, you're done!
