Gina K. Designs Patterned Papers are Sew Fun Blog Hop

 

Happy Thursday! The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to a Patterned Papers are Sew Fun blog hop. For this hop we will showcase the fabulous Gina K. Designs Patterned Paper line, stamps, and some fun sewing techniques! The DT Members have all used the wide variety of stamps and paper in this hop to inspire you to get inky too!! Come play along with the Current Challenges at Stamp TV!!!

I'm kicking off the blog hop, so you're right where you should be. If you get lost along the way or want to start off where you left off, please go to Stamp TV where you will find a list of all those participating.

I decided to combined two sets from the last release, Sweet Strawberries by Theresa Momber and Vintage Notes by Tami Mayberry. I just love it when I can do that! Here's what I came up with.

In wanted to have the patterned paper be the focus so kept the addition of color to a minimum. Here's how it came together.

1. Create a top-folding standard size card out of white card stock.
2. Adhere a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of patterned paper to the card front by sewing around the edges with a zig zag stitch.
3. To make the bottom pocket, cut a 2" x 4-1/4" piece of white card stock and emboss it with the polka dots embossing folder. Sew it onto the card front - just three sides, making sure you leave the top open to use as a pocket. 
4. Add pearls to the top corners of the card front; tie some ribbon towards the bottom of the card front on top of the pocket; and finish it off with an embellishment in the middle (I made a flower out of wire and thread a pearl in the middle of it). Set it aside.
5. Stamp the note image  and Just a Note sentiment (from the Vintage Notes set) onto white card stock. In the middle, stamp the birthday sentiment (from the Sweet Strawberries set) and highlight the word Sweet with a pink and red Copic marker. Cut it out and adhere it to a slightly larger piece of red card stock. Place it inside the pocket on the card front. Set it aside.
6. Stamp the flower image (from the Sweet Strawberries set), color it in, cut it out, and adhere it to a paperclip. Add paperclip to the note and with that, you are done!

We're concluding these series of inspiration hops with the "One Free with 3" stamp set called One in a Million. Here's what I came up with.

Here's how it came together.

1. Create a side-folding standard size card out of white card stock.
2. Stamp the sentiment with black in the upper right corner.
3. Stamp the flower image towards the bottom of the card front, color it in, and add pearls to the middle of the flowers. Set it aside.
4. Create a pot out paper or tissue, add a bow with a pearl in the middle to the middle of the pot and adhere it all to the card front.
5. Thread a strip of ribbon through a pearl buckle, adhere it around the card front, and with that, you are done!

We're continuing these series of inspiration hops with two sets Vintage Notes and Sweet Strawberries.

First up is a 3D project with Vintage Notes  by Tami Mayberry. Here's a photo of just the tin.

Here's a photo of the tin with the mini envelopes and tags.

I thought these would make a great teacher gift, a room mother gift, or even a gift for friend. I started of designing it as kid's lunch notes, but it can really be used for so many things. Here's how it came together.

1. Add a piece of patterned paper to the top of the tin, a handle on its side with some ribbon tied to it, and a strip of trim around the bottom of the tin. set it aside.
2. On a piece of Kraft card stock stamp the paper image and the phrase Take Note using black ink. Tear the bottom edge and distress all around. Set two eyelets on the left side and tie some ribbon through them. Finish it off with a paper clip and adhere it to the front of the tin. Set it aside.
3. Stamp the phrases Top Secret and Just a Note on the envelopes with black ink. Add them to the inside of the tin and with that you are done!

Next up is a card with the adorable new set Sweet Strawberries designed by Theresa Momber.

This set is so fun and fresh...perfect for summer! Theresa did a wonderful job of coming up with some clever phrases to go along with the images. Here's how my card came together.

1. Create a standard size top-folding card base out of white card stock.
2. Add a 1" x 5-1/2" strip of patterned paper towards the left of the card front.
3. Stamp and color the strawberry image. Add some stickles to the strawberries and set it aside to dry.
4. Stamp the flower image on Ivory card stock, cut it out, and add a pearl in the middle of the flower. Add the flower to the image on the card front.
5. Tie a strip of ribbon around the card front and into a bow. Set it aside.
6. Stamp the small strawberry and flower image on white card stock, color it in and punch it out. Stamp the image again this time on ivory card stock, cut out the flower only, and add a pearl in the middle of it. Adhere the ivory flower on top of the image.  Punch a hole towards the top and thread a jump ring through it and through the middle of the bow on the card front. 
7. Stamp the How Sweet of You sentiment on the upper right corner. Add a string of pearls under it and with that, you are done!

Gina K. Designs April Inspiration Hop Day 1: Basket Additions 2 and Lacy Borders

We're kicking off these series of inspiration hops with two sets - Basket Additions 2 and Lacy Borders. First up is a card Basket Additions 2 by Melanie Muenchinger.

Let me just tell you what I love about this set. First, the different themes. Secondly, the fact that you can layer all the different elements to create some dimension, as I did here.

Here's how it came together:

1. Create a top-folding standard size card and stamp the sentiment on the lower right corner with brown ink.
2. Cut a 2-1/2" x 4" piece of white card stock and run it through your die machine with the polka dot embossing folder. Mat it onto a 1/4" larger piece of brown card stock. Adhere to the card front at an angle.
3. Cut 3" x 4" piece of blue card stock and run it through your die machine with the polka dot embossing folder. Mat it onto a 1/4" larger piece of brown card stock, sew around the edges, tie a piece of ribbon/bow towards the top, add some safety pins, and and adhere it to the card front. Set it aside.
4. Stamp the basket from the Holiday Basket set onto a piece of blue card stock. Color it in with brown Copics and distress it a bit using your Copic Blender. Cut it out and set it aside.
5. Stamp the baby image three times, color the different pieces, cut them out, and layer them together on top of the basket. Adhere basket to the card front with pop dots. With that, you're done!

Next up is a card with Lacy Borders.

I decided to keep this card generic. This could be for an anniversary or even for a birthday. You can change the number in the middle to fit the recipient's happy occasion. Here's how it came together.

1. Create a top-folding standard size card and stamp the sentiment on the upper left corner with black ink.
2. Adhere 2" x 4-1/4" strip of patterned paper to the middle of the card front. Stamp one of the lace stamps across the middle with black ink. Adhere a strip of ribbon just above the stamped image.
3. Tie a bow towards the bottom of the card front and add a pearl in the middle of the bow. Set it aside.
4. Stamp 50th with black ink and punch it out with 3/4" circle punch. Adhere it to 7/8" circle you punched out of black card stock. Adhere it to the card front with a pop dot and add pearls under the numbers.
5. Add the pearl flourishes under the circle element and with that, you're done!
