Gina K. Designs September Inspiration Hop Day 1: Holiday Basket & Under the Weather

Happy Wednesday and welcome to day 1 of inspiration hops for Gina K. Designs September Release! We're kicking off these series of hops with two new sets - Holiday Basket and Under the Weather.

I'm starting off with a card I created using Holiday Basket set designed by Melanie Muenchinger.

Well, all I can say is that Melanie did it again...she managed to create another must have set! Here's how I put this card together.

1. Create a standard size card (4-14" x 5-1/2") and add a 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" piece of fabric to the middle of the card front.
2. On a piece of white card stock, stamp sentiment, cut it out and adhere it towards the bottom of card front. Add a prima flower and some ribbon to the left of the sentiment and set it aside.
3. On a piece of white card stock, stamp the flowers, color them in and cut them out.
4. On a piece of patterned paper stamp the basket and the handles and cut them out. Add handles to the basket with some brads and flowers to the basket with glue.
5. Adhere basket to the middle of card front on top of fabric and with that, you are done!

Next up is a gift set I created with Rupa's new set, Under the Weather.

Here's a photo of just the tissue box, which only measures 3".

Some things to note about this box:

1. I used the pillow to make this little guy a blanket because come on, who doesn't need a blanket when you're sick?! He's laying on top of a piece of felt I cut out using Spellbinder dies.
2. Didn't want to recreate the tissue box, so instead I took the box apart, covered it with patterned paper, and then put it back together.

The card measures 2-3/4" x 7". I created a pdf file to share with you and feel free to make it as big or as small as you'd like. I also give you the instructions on how I put it togher in the pdf which you can find here:

For texture, I used Sizzix's Swiss Dots for the middle section of the bandage and the Winter Set (dots) embossing folder for the rest of it. Once I textured it, I used distress ink to give it some color and bring out the textured items out a bit more.

Puppy Love Card with Fire Hydrant Template & Tutorial

Happy Tuesday and hope you're having a good week so far. About a year ago I designed a fire hydrant template and when I saw Melanie's Basket Buddies set I knew I wanted to revisit the template. This time around I also put a step-by-step tutorial to show you how I put the card together. Here's a photo of the outside of the card.

Here's how the card came together:

1. Create the card base and card front using the Fire Hydrant template and the Fire Hydrant Tutorial.
2. Stamp the cushion, puppies, tag, and sentiment from the Basket Buddies set on a piece of white card stock. Color them in and cut them out.
3. Adhere the puppies and pin cushion to the inside of the card.
4. Adhere tag with a ball chain to the card front - I added some pop dots to the back of the label in order to keep it in place.
5. With that, you are done!

A-Tisket A-Tasket...a Quick Easter Basket & Video Tutorial!

Happy Friday! I have a fun and easy basket tutorial to share with you today.  I know Easter is more than a month away, but why not get started on your projects now rather than later and hope this one inspires you to do so.

I also want to enable...um, I mean share with you one of my new favorite things - the GlueGlider PRO by Glue Arts. You all know how much I love to put 3D items together and typically my adhesive of choice is double-sided tape. Well this adhesive is pretty much that, minus the cover you typically have to remove from the tape that comes in a roll and the best part - it's on a cartridge. I've had this applicator for a while now and used it so much I needed a new cartridge. Finally goat around to getting one and all I can say is what took me so long?! This little beauty is awesome to use on cards, scrapbooks and best of all 3D items - you'll just love it...just sayin'!

Now, onto our regular schedule program, the basket tutorial I put together to share with you today. Here's a photo of the basket I put together.

I used Gina K. Designs set called Basket Blessings and the yummy paper is from October Afternoon. You view step-by-step instructions on how I put the basket together in the Easy Easter Basket video which you can access.

Here are the measurements for the base of the box as well diagram of what your base should look like once you make all the scoring and cuts:

1. Start with 2-3/4" x 8-3/4" piece of card stock.
2. Flip your paper and on the 8-3/4" side score at 3/4", 3-1/4", 4-3/4", and 7-1/4"
3. On the 2-3/4" side score at 1-1/4"
4. Working on the pieces under the score line, cut off the first panel; cut off some sections off the third and last panel to make a trapezoid.
5. Once you finishing scoring and cutting you should have a piece that looks like the drawing below.

Update and Beanie Hat Video and Written Tutorioal on SCS!

Happy Sunday! I'm so sorry I haven't been able to post for a bit. I have been fighting a pretty bad cold for a while now, then last Sunday I started getting chills followed by 102-104 temperature. All the while a very nasty cough. I woke up on Tuesday still trying to battle 102 temp, but by the afternoon I knew something was different with this cold than any others.

To make a long and very painful story short. I ended up at my doctor's office who diagnosed me with Pneumonia and, the horrific pain I was experiencing every time I coughed, a pulled muscle from coughing so much. I've been on serious drugs which is why I haven't been able to craft and therefore post anything. I did manage to sit up for an hour today - woo hoo! Hope to be back to 100% in a couple of weeks and if all goes well I may be able to attempt to do some stamping/creating this week...I'll try to keep you posted.
