Gina K. Designs Take Flight Blog Hop

 

Happy Thursday! The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to a fun Take Flight blog hop. For this hop we will showcase the Petals and Wings StampTV Kit with the central theme being "Take Flight". The DT Members have all used a variety of stamps from this set to inspire you to get inky too! Come play along with the Current Challenges at Stamp TV!!!

 

I'm kicking off the blog hop, so you're right where you should be. If you get lost along the way or want to start off where you left off, please go to Stamp TV where you will find a list of all those participating.

I decided to embrace the Take Flight theme by using the lovely bird images in the Petals and Wings StampTV set. Here's what I came up with.

Here's how it came together.

1. Create a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" top-folding card base out of white card stock.
2. Cut a 3-1/4" x 4" piece of patterned paper (I used Gina K. Designs Patterned Paper: Petals and Wings) and use a border punch on one end. On that same end, add a strip of ribbon and set an eyelet on either end. Thread some twine through the eyelets leaving a couple of inches on either side (you will use this later to thread through the hanger on the image). Add some bows on top of the eyelets and a pearl in the middle and set it aside.
3. Stamp the bird image on a piece of white card stock, color it in, and cut it out with scallop oval nestabilities. Run it again through your machine with the Polka Dots embossing folder and add a hanger to the top of it. Thread the twine through the hanger and adhere the image to the card front with pop dots.
4. Stamp the sentiment on blue card stock, punch it out, and run it through with the Polka Dots embossing folder. Adhere it to the bottom right corner of the card front.
5. Finish it off with some pearls around the image, in between the scallops, and just under the sentiment.

I also decided to add a greeting to the inside and this is what that looks like.

I just added the sentiment to the middle and then the bird to the right of it. After I colored the bird in, I added some dashes by it's wing for motion. With that, the card is all done!

Gina K. Designs March Inspiration Hop Day 3: Petals and Wings StampTV Kit

We're continuing these series of inspiration hops with the very brand new StampTV Kit, Petals and Wings. LOVE this set and you will too - perfect for Spring! For my first project with this set I decided to tackle a 3D items - a frame for a baby and/or toddler's room. Here's what it looks like.

I bought the frame at the dollar store. Kept the mat that came with it, took out the glass and started to design it. Here are the steps.

1. Stamp the hot air balloon image three times on a piece of white card stock with black ink, color them, and cut them out.
2. Stamp the basket of the hot air balloon on white card stock - once with green ink and twice with pink ink. Cut them out.
3. Cut three pieces of patterned paper to fit behind the mat (for my frame I cut two 2" x 4-1/4" piece of green card stock and one 2" x 4-1/4" piece of pink card stock - which came from GKD Patterned Paper Pack - Petals & Wings and place it behind the mat).
4. Tie a strip of ribbon towards the bottom of the mat and add a bow in the middle of the strip.
5. Stamp the sentiment 'dream big' on white cards stock, punch it out, add some dots around the edge, and punch a hole in the middle. Thread some twine and hang it from the the bow. Add a brad to the middle of the bow.
6. Add the hot air balloons to the middle of each section, add some twine, and the basket on top of the twine with some pop dots. Add some liquid pearls to the clouds and set it aside to dry.
7. Once the clouds are dry, add the mat to the frame without the glass and with that, you are done!

Gina K. Designs January Inspiration Hop Day 3: Fresh Start

Happy Thursday and welcome you to day 3 of inspiration hops for Gina K. Designs January Release! We're concluding these series of hops with the One Free With Three set for the January Release which is called Fresh Start.

The Fresh Start is not only quite versatile, but it lends itself to making cards quick and easy. Here's what I came up with.

I love that the leaves are in shape of hearts...too fun! Here's how I put it together:

1. Create a top-folding standard size card (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") out of white card stock.
2. Using brown ink, stamp the tree image towards the bottom of the card front.
3. Using red Stickles, color in the hearts and set it aside to dry.
4. Use the grass punch on two different shades of green card stock and adhere to the bottom of the card front on top of the trees.
5. On a piece of white card stock, stamp the image, punch it out with an oval punch, add some red dashes with a marker, and set it aside.
6. Add some twine around and towards the top of the card front and place a button in the middle.
7. Finish your card off by adhering the sentiment under the button and a bow made out of twine with a pearl in the middle on top of the button.

Happy Heart Day Is Right Around Corner...

Happy Tuesday! Hope you had a nice weekend. My apologies for not posting the Seasonal Saturday video I had promised you...I didn't finish my project on time this weekend, but hope to work on it during the week and share it with you this coming Saturday. Today I have a basketful of hearts to share with you. Here's what I came up with using Melanie's Basket Blessings set along with Tami's Happy Hearts set.

Since I didn't send out Christmas card this past Christmas, I thought I would send some love via snail mail in February instead! Here's how the card came together.

1. Create a standard size (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") top-folding card base and add a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of black card stock to the card front.
2. Run the Swiss Dots embossing folder along with a piece of 3-3/4" x 5" piece of white card stock through the Big Shot and adhere it to  3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of red card stock by sewing around the edges. Adhere them to the card front.
3. Stamp the sentiment from the Happy Hearts set on a piece of patterned paper and cut it out with the pennants die. Add two stitches with some twine and adhere it to the card front.
4. Select three large hearts and two small hearts from the Happy Hearts set and stamp them with red and pink ink respectively on a piece of white card stock. Cut them out and set them aside.
5. Select the liner you'd like to use along with the basket from the Basket Blessings set. Stamp the liner on a piece of patterned paper and cut it out. Stamp the basket on a piece of white card stock, color it with Copics, and cut it out.
6. Adhere hearts behind the basket, a strip of twine around the liner, and a bow and pearl to the middle of the basket.
7. Adhere basket to card front with pop dots and with that, you are done!
